How cute is the Quokka?

The island of Rottnest near Perth, Australia is the primary home of the quokka, a type of marsupial. Standing at about one meter (3 ft.) tall, quokkas are covered with short, coarse brown-grey fur. They have small rounded ears and a black nose.
Groups of quokkas live in territories, which are defended by dominant males. They often live in tall grass near water sources. Quokkas can also climb trees!
Quokkas are herbivores who primarily feed at night, meaning they are mainly nocturnal. They eat the leaves, stems, and bark of many plants in addition to grass. If necessary, they can survive for long periods of time without food or water by living off the fat stored in their tails.

Uncirculated Gold Coins Found Under A Tree.

A Northern California couple out walking their dog in February 2013 on their Gold Country property stumbled across a modern-day bonanza: $10million in rare, mint-condition gold coins buried in the shadow of an old tree.

Nearly all of the 1,427 coins, dating from 1847 to 1894, are in uncirculated, mint condition, said David Hall, co-founder of Professional Coin Grading Service of Santa Ana, which recently authenticated them.

Although the face value of the gold pieces only adds up to about $27,000, some of them are so rare that coin experts say they could fetch nearly $1million apiece.

Experts say it's likely whoever owned the property 150 years ago buried the coins as a kind of California gold rush-era bank - to save as an investment and for a rainy day. The coins were then forgotten for over a century.

It is seen as the largest haul of buried treasure in US history.

"We've seen shipwrecks in the past where thousands of gold coins were found in very high grade, but a buried treasure of this sort is unheard of," David McCarthy of currency firm Kagin's, who is advising the couple, told Reuters news agency.

"I've never seen this face value in North America and you never see coins in the condition we have here."

The couple wish to remain anonymous and the their property will remain undisclosed to prevent the hoards of treasure hunters, etc.
The couple are happy and content with their lives and do not wish for anything to change... they will pay off bills and donate large sums to charity!

It's time to think about your Garden...

Strawberries can be grown in a wide range of soils, from light sand to heavy clay. However, water logging will cause the fruits to become diseased and the plant to rot. The ideal soil is well-drained and rich. They prefer to be planted in full sun, out of the wind.
Plants can be planted outdoors from late June until September. If planted later, the flowers should be removed in the first year so the energy is used to develop a healthy plant in year two.
Strawberry plants can produce fruit for five or six years. However, after the first two years the yields will be reduced dramatically and a build-up of pests and diseases can occur. Strawberry beds are usually kept for two or three years before they're cleared and planted on new ground.
See guide for planting dates and grow some damn strawberries this year!!!
