What's In Candy Corn?
Uh, you better check out this simple chart before you eat one more piece of candy corn? I freaked after i saw this picture and had my friend quickly go to and read off what was on the side of my candy corn bucket. There was no plastic of any kind in this product.
This is how i feel after too much CANDY CORN
The signature candy for Halloween, candy corn has been making its way into trick-or-treat bags for over 100 years. When the Wunderlee Candy Company created this tri-colored sugar snack, they never anticipated the public's frantic response to try this new treat. A few sugar-rushed years later, the recipe was sold to Jelly Belly Candy Company who started mass producing candy corn as we know it today. So what's in it?
Candy corn is made with just eight ingredients: sugar, corn syrup, confectioner's glaze, natural/artificial flavorings (and colors), salt, egg whites, honey glycerin, mineral oil, and carnauba wax.
here are a few things i bet you didn't know about candy corn:
Candy corn first was once only available from March to November. Candy corn was first made by hand, and then special machinery and tools were required. This made it difficult to find candy corn each year, especially during the summer months-unless you had a secret stash.
There's real corn in there! Okay, more of an extract than actual kernels. Candy corn is made with a very precise method using a corn starch molding process; it's the same process used to make licorice and gumdrops. You'll find corn syrup and plenty of sugar in these addictive confections
More than 35 million pounds of candy corn are made each year. This equates to over 9 billion candy corn kernels scattering the globe by Halloween.
Candy corn contains less sugar than raisins. Health-conscious parents need not worry too much about candy corn consumption during Halloween, with just 3.6 calories per kernel. Still, it's pure sugar that is sure to generate a sugar buzz faster than most chocolates and candies.
Candy corn was once a farmer's treat. The National Confectioner's Association reports that candy corn was popular amongst farmers because of it's 'agrarian look.' It might have helped them get through those hard days on the farm with its fresh sugar supply too.
Candy corn is completely fat free. While it's not your best choice for diet foods, indulging in this sugary treat once in a while won't set off the scale. Each cup of candy corn contains just 140 calories, and the rich flavor and texture is from the marshmallow cream and fondant mixture.
This is the Audi A9 Concept vehicle.
The Audi A9 concept is a stylish proposal for a luxury sports saloon which was developed by the talented Spanish designer Daniel Garcia. Garcia's previous work includes the Ducati 6098 R concept from 2009.
The A9 concept would be positioned higher than Audi's current flagship model, the A8, and is aimed at other top-end luxury saloons like the Porsche Panamera, and if it ever went into production, the Lamborghini Estoque.
The styling of the A9 concept was partially inspired by the stunning architectural style of Santiago Calatrava's buildings in "La Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias" (The City of Arts and Sciences) in Garcia's hometown of Valencia. This influence can be seen in the clean flowing lines of the vehicle and futuristic styling features. Calatrava's buildings look like they come from 100 years in the future, and so does this.
The single-piece windscreen and roof is formed from an as-yet undiscovered nanotechnology material which features an automatic-system for repairing damage, and it can also be adjusted for color and opacity. The bodywork of the Audi A9 concept also features a unique 'electronic painting' system which means the vehicle's color can be changed at the touch of a button.
The proposed drivetrain for the A9 concept is an advanced hybrid setup which uses an internal combustion engine working in conjunction with four in-wheel electric motors.
