The Hinatuan River is a river on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. It flows into the Pacific Ocean at Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. The River is also referred to as the "Enchanted River" by many locals and tourists.
It is a salt water river and the river flows from a very deep pool (approx. 50 feet deep). It is near the ocean and the deep spring from which the water flows is a salt water spring. The river is very short and flows into the ocean. The exact cause on what makes the spring flow with salt water has not been ascertained, but being so near the ocean, it's assumed that ocean water that has flown deep underground through some long fissures/tunnels/caverns to then come back up in the spring deep under the river.
It is called the "Enchanted River" because the water seems to magically flow without any source, as well as being so deep and blue. It is considered one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the Philippines.
