London-based sculptor Ron Mueck, formerly a model maker and puppeteer for children's television and films, has been creating fine art sculptures since 1996. Using resin, fiberglass, silicone, and many other materials, Mueck constructs hyperrealistic likenesses of human beings, while playing with scale. The detailed sculptures are captivating when viewed up close, as they may be many times larger or smaller than expected.

A River of Whiskey Flows Through Scotland

Dennis denies it, but police said she sold Happy Meals for $82, $2 for the toy and $80 for the her0in inside.

Look up, there’s space. Astronomically speaking, it’s right there, just outside a thin layer of atmosphere. But how far away is it? How high is space? Space is defined by the point at which the Earth’s atmosphere ends, and the vacuum of space takes over.
The first official definition of space came from the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (the predecessor to NASA), who decided on the point where atmospheric pressure was less than one pound per square foot. This was the altitude that airplane control surfaces could no longer be used, and corresponded to roughly 50 miles, or 81 kilometers.
Any NASA test pilot or astronaut who crosses this altitude is awarded their astronaut wings.

The Far Side of the Moon.
The far side of the Moon, sometimes called the dark side of the Moon, is the hemisphere of the Moon that is permanently turned away, and not visible from the surface of the Earth. To me, this is one of the more fascinating things that exist in the known Universe.
The far side was first photographed by the SovietLuna 3 probe in 1959, and was first directly observed by human eyes when the Apollo 8 mission orbited the Moon in 1968. The rugged terrain is distinguished by a multitude of crater impacts, as well as relatively few lunar maria (Latin for 'seas,' since the earliest astronomers incorrectly thought that these plains were seas of lunar water).
It includes the second largest known impact feature in the Solar System, the South Pole-Aitken basin. To date, there has been no ground exploration of the far side of the Moon.
