The night skies in the Atacama Desert areas of Chile, Argentina and Bolivia are among the darkest on the planet. The desert is also home to some of the worlds oldest bacteria, from which all life on earth evolved. It’s an ironic juxtaposition, with giant telescopes looking for life on other planets while there is such a rich story of our evolution right underfoot.
